Bounce Houses and Doctorate Degrees

I must apologize.  I simply haven’t had anything interesting to say all week.  And yea, I’m sure many people would claim I never have anything interesting to say, but my guess is that they probably then don’t read my blog.

Perhaps it’s true what they say that peace and contentment don’t breed creativity.  I’ve just been feeling really good and have been having a great week with the girls.

It’s nice to feel like we finally have our lives back.  The weather has cooled down, so we have been able to get outside most afternoons, and I finally feel on top of daily tasks now that the dreaded first trimester is over.

My girls and I met some of our favorite people at a local indoor bounce play area today.  They had a blast.  I guess people kept getting shocked when they would see the Goose holding her own in there.  Not only does she look small, but she’s pretty brave for her age — in fact, I’m sure she’s much more brave (and rugged) than I was when I was twice her age.

I haven’t seen Magoo have that  much fun in ages.  She was a total mess when we left — bright red cheeks, sweaty messy hair, and a scowl that could hardly be matched.

Here are some pictures of the fun.  Normally I aim for at least decent quality pictures to post on this site, but my iphone just does not have the shutter speed to deal with bouncing kids, so I apologize for the blurriness.

The following picture is why we call her “small but mighty.”  She really doesn’t get intimidated by much.  Plus, I should state that she is no longer quite so small.  At her 15 month check up, the doctor said she was up to the 12th percentile for weight and the 25th for height.  This was awesome as it gave me a little bit of a buffer so I don’t have to worry so much about her falling off the chart.  Who knows — her basketball dreams might not be dead after all!

Now if I were a child, the next shot shows what I think would have to be one of the most fun parts — the velcro wall.  Apparently the kids didn’t feel the same way.  Magoo let me throw her up there once, but then she was DONE with it.  Sadly, they don’t have adult sized velcro outfits.

I can’t believe it has been so long since I last took the girls there.  I was excitedly planning an excursion there over Thanksgiving when Magoo is on break from school, but then I remembered that they said pregnant people aren’t allowed in the bounce houses.  Today I just went on figuring that at 14 weeks I can’t look that pregnant.  I figured if anyone asked me about it, I would just act really offended that they would suggest such a thing.  Maybe I could even have gotten a free trip out of it.  Something tells me that by Thanksgiving, I won’t be able to hide it.

We have one more exciting bit of news to announce.  TJ decided to go back to school to pursue his doctorate.  He will be taking online classes and doing the part time program part time.  It will take him quite awhile, but it will give him a chance to finish off his education without him having to sacrifice any real time with the girls.  He’ll be taking time off when Baby Valentine comes.

Needless to say, I am quite proud of him.  Although I am a bit jealous.  I’ll be returning for my doctorate in education but not for a few more years which means he will earn his degree before me, and let me tell you — I will NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT!!  He already wants to change our last name to Love so he will be Dr Love.  Yes, you should feel very sorry for me.

Well that’s it for tonight.  I have to go hunt down some lentils.  Because I have a crazy strong craving for lentils tonight.  This baby is weird.  One day I’m craving bacon which I really don’t even like and the next day it’s lentils.  C’est la vie!

  1. You seem to forget that I am currently +1 when it comes to NUMBER of degrees thus far :o)

You DO have a slight edge in the number of years -to- number of degrees ratio…
